LASER DE-COATING

Both the CERION c-matrix and c-vertica systems equipped with a surface laser can create beautiful works of art by de-coating mirrored and painted glass. This is achieved by precisely removing the material from the glass, allowing light to pass through the glass showing the desired design. This process is much more controllable and detailed then a simple etching, as the amount of coating to be removed can be controlled according to your art so that perfect contrast and desired detail can be achieved. Once your art is prepared in CERION’s engraving file creation software crystal lab pro 2 (CLP2), the engraving file is then utilized by the laser system to duplicate your art on glass. The process is very similar to the CERION surface technology with only a few changes to settings. It can also be utilized in glass up to 10’ x 44’ wide!

This process can be achieved on a wide variety of glass types and sizes and can also be used in conjunction with surface and/or sub-surface technologies. Even after the de-coating process glass surfaces remain non-porous and easy to clean as is the same with surface engraved glass with CERION technology.

The de-coating process works extremely well with any color of painted glass, and to accentuate the effect even more, back lighting is recommended. For mirrors, entire surfaces can be engraved with extreme detail or even a simple design on the edges. De-coating also works with both tempered and non-tempered glass and does not need to be done before tempering.
